About the Founders

Co-founders Julie Welborn and Denise Nicholes each had a vision to create an eatery, which would feature healthy, delicious, and beautiful food served in a peaceful and relaxing environment.

A beautiful partnership was born when Julie and Denise met at the Faith Community of St. Sabina. They both have complimentary personalities and management styles - Julie has a unique gift for creating an environment where diverse groups of individuals feel comfortable and she also has a wealth of experience working with people from all walks of life. Denise prefers to speak to people through her food and has a long history in the food service industry.

As each shared her passion for baking and her dream for a place to share that passion, The Perfect Peace Café and Bakery was born. A decision was made to locate the café and bakery in the Auburn-Gresham neighborhood of Chicago, because it is experiencing a level of commercial growth, yet remains underserved in restaurant uses. The food offerings in the neighborhood are primarily limited to fast food and do not offer seating. Julie and Denise wanted The Perfect Peace Café and Bakery to stand out by offering an extended menu in a comfortable sit-down atmosphere.
